For over 2000 years the Rione Terra di Pozzuoli has dominated the city.
Today the Rione Terra di Pozzuoli, restored in its large part, can be visited on foot on weekends with a walk, a few meters away from the Port. For over 2,000 years it has dominated the arm of the sea and the coast between the small island of Nisida and the promontory of Miseno. It was inhabited until 1970, when the last important bradyseism phenomenon (volcano activity) in the area forced the inhabitants to leave it permanently.

The underground part of the Rione Terra can be visited upon request and treasures Greek finds, streets, and Roman shops. While the upper part is a labyrinth of narrow alleys between houses and representative palaces, which suddenly opens with terraces overlooking the sea, where the view sweeps from the Neapolitan coast, with the islands of Ischia, Capri and Procida, to Lazio.

Today this ancient port is surrounded by a dock and embellished by a panoramic pedestrian walk, bordered by the tables of bars and restaurants.
